Construction is continuing to progress at Whispering Winds Cottage in Beatrice, Nebraska. When operational, round-the-clock care will be provided for 16 residents identified with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
“Providing memory care in an assisted living setting is more cost effective than sending those residents to a nursing home. The model and design used for the new facility in Beatrice has proven hugely successful in rural communities,” according to LTC Midwest owner, Randy Kozeal.
The care model of Whispering Winds Cottage focuses on five basic values – dignity, respect, patience, charity and trust. The mission is to provide a lifestyle home that provides enriching care in a safe and nurturing environment where the individual can thrive and live a productive and active lifestyle.
The secured facility in Beatrice will feature 16 private resident rooms that all open to a centralized living and kitchen area. In addition, the facility will feature a secure and monitored courtyard that residents can access anytime.
According to Mr. Kozeal, “The facility will be barrier-free inside and out, allowing residents to wander freely without coming to a dead end or getting frustrated because they are unsure where to go. This helps residents feel independent and autonomous.”
An open house for the facility will be held upon completion this fall.
